J.D. Edwards was the software program company founded within March 1977 in Denver, Colorado by John Thompson, Dan Gregory and Ed McVaney. A company mass produced its title building accounting software program for IBM minicomputers, beginning with a System/34 and /36, focusing from a mid 1980s on System/38 mincomputers, and then shift to the AS/400 when it became available.
the company step by step added functions to its accounting software package, evolving it into a platform-independent enterprise resource planning (ERP) application that was renamed OneWorld in 1996.
Inside Can 1998, Ed McVaney donated more than $32 million to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to found the J.D. Edwards Honors Program. This program is charged by having educating a next generation of business agents by combining computer science education with business management skills.
Around June 2003, the J.D. Edwards board agreed to an offer under which PeopleSoft would acquire J.D. Edwards; a takeover was completed inside July. OneWorld was added to Peoplesoft’s software system line & was renamed EnterpriseOne. Around late 2004, Oracle acquired Peoplesoft and has continued to trend lines products that were created by J.D. Edwards. It use at times announced the product under development known as "Project Fusion" (probably is renamed after these are nigher to commercial release around 2008). This product is designed to replenish existent Oracle Applications Suite, likewise when products acquired from either Peoplesoft (Enterprise) & J.D. Edwards (OneGlobe/EnterpriseOne & World).
